Setting Your Dreams In Motion Since 1972

Impact Dance Center is a place where kids and adults of all ages, shapes, and backgrounds learn to dance and perform. Each student has the opportunity to experience high-quality dance lessons in a nurturing family atmosphere. We strive to foster and develop talent, celebrate the achievements of all students, and inspire an appreciation for a life-long connection to dance and the arts. This is a studio where creativity, individuality, and self-expression are encouraged and a community of teachers, students, and families who are passionate about the performing arts come together to facilitate an empowering experience. Impact Dance Center is committed to providing a safe and positive learning environment - in all classes, levels, and programs - where students are provided opportunities to build confidence, expand their mindset, and explore the art of dance.

How Our Dance Studio Got Started

Nancy Kindorf had already spent her youth and young adult life training in the arts and teaching dance lessons in the Pacific Northwest when she found herself immersed in the early 70’s life raising her children in Orange County, California. Nancy had a special knack for fostering the hard work and focus it takes to create great dancers and so the story of our studio - Impact Dance Center, formerly Kindorf Dancers - begins in Nancy’s garage in 1972. Nancy’s popularity in the community was growing and so was her clientele, that dance lessons began to be housed in various spaces throughout La Palma throughout the 70s and 80s with Nancy and her daughter, Shawn, at the helm. By the early 1990s the studio, moved to Cypress, CA and the torch of studio ownership was passed to Shawn Kindorf in 2000.

One Dance Lesson Led To Another

Catherine Gray has been immersed in the joy, freedom, and structure that dance provides since she was a student of Miss Nancy’s in the 1980s. One dance lesson led to another and after years of teaching for various studios in the region, Catherine and her mom, Kim, sought ownership of the studio in 2005. Word got out that the studio was a special place to be and we moved cross-town in 2009 to the current Los Alamitos studio and rebranded as Impact Dance Center. Our name had changed, but the vision of providing high-quality training for both recreational and competitive students in a family atmosphere had not. In 2015, Impact again needed additional space and headed back to our hometown of Cypress to include an annex location with multiple classrooms and a dedicated Pilates studio.

Impact Dance Center Today

Serving students and families across Orange & Los Angeles counties with two studio locations, our studio continues to provide outstanding dance experiences to each and every student.

The expansive network of Impact alumni, instructors, and dance families reaches across all career paths, backgrounds, and locations - dance is what brought us together and is what keeps us inspired to fulfill our commitment to providing this platform for generations to come.

Impact Dance Center is celebrating its 52nd Season and we think that’s cause to celebrate – not only as a family-run small business that’s seen its way through recessions, pandemics, and cultural shifts – because our wide-reaching community of teachers, students, and parents are what got us here. So, dance fam, we celebrate you and your commitment to exploring dance as a beautiful and immersive art form and the opportunity it gives us to truly feel alive.
